Living Our Mission for You, Every Day
By Kevin Harlan, president, Atrium Medical Center

We Care. We Teach. We Innovate. We Serve.
These are the words we live by at Atrium Medical Center and Premier Health. Our mission statement guides us at the bedside, in the community, in the classroom, and beyond. Our caregivers bring those phrases to life in their daily interactions with you and with each other. Our people are Atrium’s heart and soul.
Speaking of our team, I’m excited to welcome one of our newest leaders, Chief Medical Officer Beth Besecker, MD, MBA. A Preble County native, she already understands our region as she shares her exceptional passion for advancing patient care and supporting our providers.
Wright State University Partnership
Premier Health’s innovative partnership with Wright State University is another way we live our mission. This 30-year agreement enhances our access to state-of-the-art medical care. A priority is producing more clinicians, nurses, and other health care providers. Becoming an academic health system will spur new research opportunities and provide patients with better access to vital medical care close to home.
More immediately, our medical staff has grown with the integration of Wright State Physicians into Premier Health. This means you have greater access to a wider range of primary care and specialty providers.
In addition, the new primary academic affiliation between Wright State and Premier Health includes all of Wright State’s colleges and academic programs and all of Premier Health’s sites of care. This close relationship creates a pipeline of new talent for our hospitals, while offering fulfilling careers to Wright State students right here in our region.
A Decade of Mobile Mammography Screening
In September, we marked the 10-year anniversary of Premier Health’s Mobile Mammography Coach that began at Atrium, generously supported by donors to Atrium Medical Center Foundation.
Since its launch, the coach has traveled 120,000 miles, completed 20,083 screenings in 12 counties, and served 432 locations/partnerships. Our team tells us, that every year, they meet women who say they wouldn’t have had a mammogram if the coach hadn’t been in their community. We’re proud to offer this important community need.
U.S. News & World Report Honors Maternity Care
U.S. News & World Report has named Atrium and Miami Valley Hospital as “high performing” in Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy), the highest rating U.S. News awards for maternity care. Congratulations to our Family Birth and Natural Beginnings Birth Center, which combines the comfort of home with advanced technology and an experienced medical staff.
